Joe Garcia — Dent Evo

Most PDR technicians
learned to work fast.
Joe Garcia learned to work right.

That distinction took years to build — and longer to explain to a market that mostly wanted the cheapest quote. This is the story of why that gap exists, and what it means when you bring your vehicle here.

How it started

Dealerships don’t care how it looks. They care how fast it’s done.

Joe Garcia started in PDR in dealership environments — the highest-volume setting in the trade. Dozens of cars a day. Quick turnaround. Acceptable results, not exceptional ones. It’s where most PDR technicians stop growing.

It’s also where Joe started noticing the gap. The difference between what was handed back to a customer and what was actually possible — given the right amount of time, the right technique, and the willingness to stop when the work was finished instead of when the clock said to.

“Dealership work teaches you speed. What it doesn’t teach you is what the finish is supposed to look like when you’re really done.”

That gap became the thing he couldn’t ignore. The question wasn’t whether he could do the work faster. It was whether faster was the right metric at all.

2014
The turning point

The market pushed back. He stayed the course.

In 2014, Joe trained with Paul Kordon and implemented something almost no PDR operation in Southern California was doing at the time: difficulty-based pricing. The cost of a repair was tied directly to its complexity — not a flat rate, not a guess, not whatever the customer would accept.

The local market didn’t know what to make of it. Clients used to getting quotes over the phone without photos, without an evaluation, without any of the information actually required to price a repair honestly — they pushed back.

“You can’t quote a crease the same way you quote a door ding. The only honest answer to ‘how much?’ is: send me photos. Everything else is guesswork dressed as confidence.”

Joe stayed the course. The clients who understood what they were paying for — and why — found him. The ones looking for the lowest number went somewhere else. That was the point.

Now
What Dent Evo is today

Clients travel across Southern California. Not because it’s convenient — because it’s worth it.

Today, Dent Evo handles repairs most shops won’t touch: complex body line creases, hail-covered luxury vehicles, EV aluminum panels, multi-panel damage where precision is non-negotiable. Based in Upland, CA — the center of paintless dent repair Upland CA and the broader Inland Empire — clients arrive from Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, and throughout the region.

None of that happened because Joe marketed his way into it. It happened because every repair that left the shop was exactly what was promised — and sometimes better. That reputation moves on its own.

“My goal is simple: deliver the highest level result the panel will allow — without compromising the original finish. Not every dent needs the same approach. I’ll tell you honestly what’s possible, and what isn’t.”

Every repair still begins with an evaluation. Not a quote — an evaluation. The honest answer to what’s possible, what the result will look like, and whether PDR is even the right path for this specific damage. That hasn’t changed since 1997. It’s the only part that matters.

What Joe believes

Three things that don’t change, regardless of the job.

01

Evaluation before everything.

No work starts until the damage is understood. What’s realistic. What the result will look like. Whether PDR is the right call at all. That answer comes before a price, before a schedule, before anything.

02

The finish doesn’t lie.

Under the right light, at the right angle, a panel shows exactly what was done to it. Every repair is held to that standard — not what looks fine from ten feet away, but what looks right up close.

03

Honest over comfortable.

If PDR can’t deliver the right result for your damage, you’ll hear that directly — before you spend money or time. That conversation is part of the job, not an inconvenience.
